New York Tech: A safe and sure investment for the future

Jun 27, 2022

Nearly two years since the COVID-19 global pandemic upended the lives of billions of people around the world, New York Institute of Technology (New York Tech) is proud to be able to offer a secure, safe learning environment and reinstate a semblance of normalcy to its campuses, allowing its  students to maximize the many opportunities offered by the university.

New York Tech President and CEO Henry C. "Hank" Foley

“What was most important strategically for us was that we focused completely on student experience, whether it’s in Vancouver or New York. Improving the experience of our students has also been at the core of how we’ve improved our reputation. We’ve done it by investing resources to support our students and making sure they have everything they need to succeed,” said New York Tech President and CEO Henry C. “Hank” Foley, Ph.D.

Over the past three years, New York Tech has climbed 167 spots to No. 273 in the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings, and was also ranked No. 2 in New York State and No. 8 in the United States for “Environment,” a category that measures inclusion, diversity, and international student representation. Reflecting the significant improvement of New York Tech’s reputation at home and abroad, Foley was included in the City and State’s Higher Education Power 100 List in 2021.

And despite the huge mobility challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the university has seen an increased influx of international students from South Asia and East Asia, particularly from China, which remains New York Tech’s largest international market.

New York Tech students can benefit from a rich educational experience that includes academic support, student clubs and organizations, and co-curricular and cultural activities in the exciting city of Vancouver.

While student recruitment is an important part of New York Tech’s globalization strategy, the university has also focused on deepening existing partnerships and establishing new ties with several Chinese universities. It has also benefitted from the favorable reviews from a growing base of Chinese graduates.

“I’d love to see even deeper relationships with our alumni in China and to let them guide us on identifying the best opportunities for partnerships. There are so many opportunities there right now, and that is a place where we have a growing number of alumni,” Foley said.

“Promoting entrepreneurship and identifying the educational aspects of entrepreneurship are other plans we can further develop,” he added.

Meanwhile, New York Tech remains focused on becoming a first choice for students from anywhere in the world who want to widen their horizons and obtain a valuable American degree that will provide them with technology-focused professional skills and prepare them for a successful career.
