Established in 1980, Milan-based GIMAV is an association of 65 manufacturers and suppliers of machines, accessories, equipment, and specialized products used in glass processing. The group is led by Fabrizio Cattaneo, who doubles as CEO of VITRUM, the country’s leading biennial glass technologies trade show.

Cattaneo met with GMI POST to share his insights on the future of Italy’s glass processing and manufacturing industry and how GIMAV supports its members achieve business growth and international expansion. This year, VITRUM 2023 will take place between the 5-8 September in Milan.
“Italy delivers excellence in glass technology. In the USA, many skyscrapers use glass made by Italian technology. We occupy a very high position in terms of technological level and also have a very high global market share. At least 25 percent of the total market of glass technology comes from the Italian industry,” Cattaneo said.
Cattaneo is proud of Italy’s glass production particularly because of the dedication of GIMAV’s members to produce glass products according to any specification of its clients.
“If you to talk about Italy’s glass industry, we achieve excellence. What we have here is not only a business, but a culture. Our art is everything. What we can provide is tailor-made because we always strive to meet all the needs of our customers,” he said.
